How to Find a Gift That Shows You Care

There are plenty of excellent gift ideas out there, but when you are shopping for someone special and I have a great offer going with Love Layla Design’s for gift wrap and greetings cards!

Choosing the right gift is important, you don’t want to just grab and go a generic gift. A good gift will be personal, show that you listen and know them well as a person. The right kind of gift can help bring you closer together and make some fantastic, new memories.

Some people love to shop for gifts and find it easy. While others may find the task of gift buying particularly challenging. Sometimes it can be hard to figure out what the right gift to give is.

Here are some top tips to help you purchase the perfect gift:

Buy a gift that they want

It is often believed you have to find a gift that will surprise someone. But this doesn’t always have to be the case, and there are usually a lot of items that someone is desperate for, which will please them to receive. Make sure you listen to what they are saying and make them happy with something they have always wanted. This enables you to make it more personal, and actually, make them smile. If there is nothing specific they have asked for, think back to when you spend time with them, if there is something useful and practical that they could use? For example, if they enjoy weekends binging on Netflix, what about some comfortable lounge clothes and hotel quality robes so they can continue to enjoy doing what they love?

Quality over quantity or price

It can be hard to let go of the idea that a large price tag does not necessarily mean a better, more thoughtful or appreciated gift. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to show someone that you care. Someone will feel much more appreciated as a friend or loved one if you give them something they value, can use, or is memorable, as opposed to the most expensive item you can find. More often than not, gifts that can be purchased at different price points will have the same outcome. It is important that giving gifts is not used as a way to look successful and fall prey to your ego, believing that someone will love you more for the money spent. There is no problem with expensive gifts, just know that gifts should be used to express, rather than impress. The right gift is more important than the money spent on it.

Gift a gift that leaves a memory

Material gifts tend to be the obvious choice, but there is great satisfaction in giving an experience instead. These are excellent gift ideas for when you have no more ideas, or you have a friend who already has everything, or the receiving party just loves excitement and surprises. An experience is a great gift, as it provides an opportunity to have fun, make memories and something to talk about for years to come. Life is all about experiences, and material things and possessions will only last for so long. Experiences are priceless because you get to try something completely new, perhaps by visiting a new country or learning a new skill, and those things are just not quantifiable. These kinds of gifts enable self-growth, and many different feelings you just can’t give with a material item. See if you can give them an experience that they won’t forget, or something they have always wanted to do but never got around to doing. It is highly likely to bring you close together and strengthen your relationship, especially if it is something you can do together. Some of the best experience gifts you can give are:

  • A weekend holiday or spa break
  • An adventure day
  • A hot air balloon ride
  • A lesson for something they have always wanted to do, for example, skiing, surfing, paddleboarding, archery, clay pigeon shooting
  • A parachute jump

Last year, we were able to purchase a voucher to visit Anfield Stadium for two, including the audio tour. This was so well received and a virtual voucher was instantly available to then book on your preferred dates.
